The FINE ARTS WORK CENTER in Provincetown offers a unique residency program for emerging artists and writers. Located in a rustic fishing village with a storied history as an arts colony, the Work Center provides seven-month Fellowships to twenty Fellows each year in the form of living/work space and a modest monthly stipend of $750. Residencies run from October 1 through April 30. Fellows pursue their work independently in a diverse and supportive community of peers. Additional facilities include a basic woodshop, a print shop with etching and lithography press and a computer lab featuring a video editing suite and large format digital printer. Writing Fellows are housed in two- to three-room apartments. Some working studios and living spaces are handicap accessible.
-Applications for the 2012-2013 Writing Fellowship must be submitted in hard copy with a postmark on or before December 1, 2011. We do not accept electronic submissions for the Writing Fellowship. The Writing Fellowship application fee is $45.

Special Exhibits would like to invite you to enter the Celebrate Spring! exhibit to premiere at International Quilt Festival Cincinnati 2012. Quilts in this exhibit will be inspired by the season of renewal - Spring!
Please note that this exhibit has changed from an International Quilt Association (IQA) Judged Contest to an International Quilt Festival Special Exhibit.
You may submit a total of two quilts for our consideration. Quilts must be a minimum of 25" x 25". There is no "made after" date requirement.
Completed submissions with visuals must be received online by Monday, January 31, 2012. You will be notified no later than Friday, February 10, 2012, regarding the quilts to be included in this exhibit along with shipping instructions. If selected, the quilts will need to arrive in Houston no later than Friday, March 16, 2012. Quilts may travel to other shows and will remain a part of the traveling exhibit through November 2012. If quilts do not travel they will be returned by the end of May 2012.

PWP International Juried Photography Exhibition
International Deadline: January 31, 2012 - Professional Women Photographers (PWP) invites all women artists working with any photographic process to submit images. The exhibition juror will be Mary Ellen Mark. The contest includes $3000 in cash awards; valuable prizes provided by Datacolor, global leader in color management solutions and color communication technology; a group show in Manhattan’s .NO gallery; an online exhibition and a feature article in IMPRINTS Magazine Spring/Summer 2012 issue.
ELIGIBILITY
This call for entries is open worldwide to all women photographers; non-members and members of PWP, amateur and professional. PWP invites women photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought to participate. Experimental and mixed techniques are welcome. Only 2-D work is eligible and images accepted for the gallery show must be limited in framed size to 20 x 24 inches.

JUROR
Mary Ellen Mark is an American photographer known for her photojournalism, portraiture, and advertising photography. She has had 16 collections of her work published and has been exhibited at galleries and museums worldwide. She is a contributing photographer to The New Yorker and has published photo-essays and portraits in such publications as LIFE, The New York Times Magazine, Rolling Stone, and Vanity Fair.
Ms Mark was presented with the Cornell Capa Award by the International Center of Photography in 2001. Among her other achievements are the Infinity Award for Journalism, an Erna & Victor Hasselblad Foundation Grant, a Walter Annenberg Grant, the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, the Matrix Award for outstanding woman in the field of film/photography, and the Dr. Erich Salomon Award for outstanding merits in the field of journalistic photography.

This exhibition invites artists and designers of all genders to create work that celebrates the incredible women they have known, loved and been influenced by. It is a chance to recognize and pay homage to all that the women in our lives have contributed to us.
By showcasing the work of female artists and designers, exhibiting work about women’s roles in industry and projects about women known personally (colleagues, family, friends, mentors, role models, etc.) this show will celebrate all the facets and roles of women in our lives.

This is an Open Call for proposals for an exhibition in the summer of 2012. This call is open to all artists from North America working in all visual media. Proposals for exhibitions by both individuals and groups will be considered. The individual or group associated with the chosen proposal will receive a solo exhibition at the Target Gallery from August 4 - September 2, 2012. The artist/s will also receive a stipend and an exhibition catalog. Our jurors for this years Open Exhibition are Jack Rasmussen, Catriona Fraser, and David Page.
Jack Rasmussen is the Director and Curator of the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center in Washington, DC. In addition he has also taught painting, curatorial practice, and arts programming, and worked as the university’s associate director of development from 1983 to 1987.
Catriona Fraser is an international award winning photographer and the Director of the Fraser Gallery. The Fraser Gallery exhibits the work of local, national and international artists with an emphasis on contemporary realism and photography.
David Page is an award winning, South African born, Baltimore based sculptor. His work is included in The Teaching Collection at St. Mary’s College, the permanent collection at the Baltimore Museum of Art and the collection of Nelson Mandela. His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally including The Touch Gallery at the National Gallery in Cape Town, South Africa, Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts and The Baltimore Museum of Art. He currently teaches at The Corcoran College of Art and Design and is represented by Jordan Faye Contemporary since 2006.

Rockford Art Museum presents the 2012 Rockford Midwestern Biennial, the seventy-second juried exhibition of the series that surveys the breadth and depth of contemporary art in the Midwest today. Juried by Lisa Stone, curator of the Roger Brown Study Collection at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the 2012 Midwestern will be on view May 18–Sept. 23 at RAM. Applications must be postmarked no later than Feb. 1, 2012; notification packets will be sent after jurying.
ELIGIBILITY
APPLICANT must be a current resident of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, or Wisconsin. ORIGINAL ARTWORK—paintings, sculpture (including kinetic or intermedia), prints, drawings, photographs—executed by the applicant within the last two years are eligible. No dimension may exceed 96 inches (8 feet); no weight may exceed 150 pounds.
JURY PROCESS
One juror is selected for each Midwestern Biennial; he or she has no professional affiliation with Rockford Art Museum. Jurying will be based on the digital images that artists submit. Images must represent the actual artwork competing for display May 18–Sept. 23 in the 2012 Rockford Midwestern Biennial at Rockford Art Museum. Notifications will be sent after jurying.

Lisa Stone is a curator, teacher, and writer who specializes in the documentation, preservation, and interpretation of artists’ environments and collections. Curator of the Roger Brown Study Collection of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago since 1997, she oversees the preservation of a historic house museum and extensive art collection, rich in works by artists from the Midwest. Currents 2012, the 3rd annual Santa Fe International New Media Festival will be held in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA — June 22 — July 8, 2012. The Festival explores the role of technology and the diverse applications of New Media in the arts.
This year submission categories include single channel video, video and sound installation, interactive new media, animation, computer/software modulated sculpture, multimedia performance, experimental and interactive documentary video, Digital Dome projection, art gaming and web art.
The Festival will be held in several venues throughout the city: El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe, the Center for Contemporary Arts, the Santa Fe Complex and the Digital Dome facility at the Institute for American Indian Arts. In addition to exhibitions Currents 2012 will offer panel discussions and workshops, and two nights of multimedia performance. Festival events are free to the public.

Eligibility
• Faces and Places is a juried exhibit of contemporary fiber art open to artists over 18 years old living in the US.
• Works must be original. Work derivative of other textile artists or work created in an undergraduate program or workshop, with the aid of an instructor, is not acceptable.
• Maximum size is 240 inches, total of all four sides. For example, a 24” X 60” work would be 168” (24+24+60+60=168).
• There are no restrictions on the completion date of the work.
• All works must be ready to hang on a wall, and include all applicable hanging apparatus (e.g., hanging wires, hanging rods, etc.) Works cannot be suspended from the ceiling. Three-dimensional works are eligible but must be ready to exhibit on the floor, pedestal, shelf, or must include mounting hardware for wall display.
• All works must be offered for sale. A 30% commission will be charged by the Fiber Artists Network and the Butterfield Too Gallery on any item sold during the exhibit.
Entry fee: $30.00 for three works. $10.00 for each additional work. Entry fee for FAN members is $25.00 for three works and $10.00 for each additional work.

The Sex Issue: Volume 7

Projekt30 is seeking submissions for its seventh annual sex themed exhibition which will showcase fine artists who comment upon gender and sex in our society. We are accepting work ranging from the personal, to the political, to the near-pornographic. It will be publicly juried: artwork submitted will be presented prior to the exhibition, and site visitors select the final 30 winners. All participants receive exposure. Invitations will be sent to our extensive mailing list of galleries, collectors, etc and viewers have the option of contacting artists, both during the jury and after the winners are selected. As of Nov. 2011 over 300,000 messages have been sent to previous Projekt30 participants. "The Sex Issue" will open Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 2012.

The Earlville Opera House Arts Center is a thriving multi-arts center that gets its name from its beautiful historic theater dating from 1892. In 2011, the Gallery program celebrated its 20th year and over 200 solo exhibitions. The EOH center hosts both the East Gallery and West Gallery with exhibitions that change every 4 to 6 weeks, as well as the Arts Cafe Gallery and Artisan Gift Shop that features the work of central New York artists. How To Apply
Project Description: Describe in a paragraph the themes and content of the show. It is imperative your description is clear and that it leaves us with a strong impression of what to expect from the exhibition you propose. Include project title, how many pieces in the show, media, and other important details on your plans for the exhibition. We are interested in compelling ideas, concisely stated.
Application: Fill out the PDF application, including the Work Description List. It is available to download and print here.
Work Sample: Enclose up to 15 digital images on a CD, including samples of work by all participating artists to provide a sense of the proposed show. Digital image files should be saved on the CD as the artists' last name and numbered corresponding to the Work Description List, such as Jones_01.jpg, Jones_02.jpg, Smith_03.jpg. Size images at 1200 pixels on the longest dimension. Do not embed images into PDF files. For video samples we will accept DVD and CD-ROM formats. Images are crucial to our understanding of your proposal. Your Project Description should function as the backbone that connects your image samples together.
Work Description List: List details of the work corresponding with their number, including artist’s name, title, dimensions of work, materials used and date executed for each piece.
Support Materials: We recommend but do not require enclosing a resume and one page or less artist statement from each participating artist. Please do not include reviews, publications, or other additional items.
SASE: Your materials will not be returned unless indicated on the application and accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope (with adequate stamps, not metered postage).

The Fine Print
SOIL provides a stipend ($200) to assist with postcard printing & postage, and pays for vinyl wall lettering. All additional costs for the show, including shipping and insuring of artworks, reception food and drink, etc., are the responsibility of the curator. Additionally, the curator is responsible for installing and de-installing the show within the given schedule.
SOIL assists with writing and distribution of a press release, access to the mailing list, keeping the gallery staffed and general promotion on the website.
Sales
Sales occur directly between the artist or curator and the buyer. Gallery sitters are happy to put the artist or curator and buyer in touch with each other. SOIL encourages a 15%-30% donation of sales. While this is not required, we operate on a modest budget and appreciate donations. Our percentage is low because we are not focused on sales or supported by them. We are foremost dedicated to our mission to support emerging and innovative art in Seattle.

Fantastic Fibers is an international competitive exhibition that seeks to showcase a wide range of outstanding works related to the fiber medium. In four years Fantastic Fibers has grown to a truly international competition/exhibition. Last year's Fantastic Fibers 2011 had over 400 entries submitted by 187 fiber artists from France, Canada, Japan, Qatar, and from 23 US states with 58 works by 47 fiber artists chosen for the exhibit.
The competition/exhibition is open to all professional artists 18 years and/or over working in the field of fiber art. Contemporary and innovative works created with fiber as the primary medium are welcome. All work submitted must be original, completed in the last three years and not previously exhibited in a Fantastic Fibers exhibition. There are no size restrictions. A non-refundable entry fee $10 is required for each entry submitted for consideration with a maximum of five entries per artist. Entries must be submitted online by February 4, 2012.
Juror Luanne Rimel is an artist, curator, and currently the Director of Education Programs at Craft Alliance Art Center in St. Louis, Missouri. She holds an MFA in Fibers from Southern Illinois University and has taught numerous workshops and classes around the country. Rimel will award a minimum of $1,750 in cash prizes for this year's exhibition.
Exhibit will be open to the public March 31- May 5, 2012, at the Yeiser Art Center in Paducah, KY. Paducah is the home of the National Quilt Museum. The American Quilter's Society Annual Show and Contest will be held in Paducah from April 25 to 28, 2012.

All works submitted are considered for Editor's and Readers' choice awards, qualifying recipients of which are nominated for inclusion in the Best American Comics, and other awards.
Please use our submission manager for all submissions. Please include author's/artist's name, email address, and phone number. All short fiction, short short fiction, and novel excerpts are considered for publication. We don't currently have a strict cap on the number of pages, but it is uncommon for us to accept stories that are over 35 pages.
We accept artwork of all kinds, including paintings, photographs, digital and mixed media art, and etc. We recommend looking at past issues to get a feel for the artwork that fits Fiction Fix. Please include up to ten images, preferably submitted in 1 PDF file. Please note that we cannot review artist's websites to select images from a large body of work. We ask that artists send a specific set of images that they feel will cohere well within a literary journal and represent their artistic vision.
We are honored to receive your work, and try diligently to respond within a 3 month period. After that time, you are welcome to query editor@fictionfix.net. We accept simultaneous submissions. Please send no more than 2 stories per author at a time.

The Burlington Contemporary Writing Prize seeks to discover talented young writers on contemporary art, with the winner receiving £1000 and the opportunity to publish a review of a contemporary art exhibition.
The judges of the inaugural Burlington Contemporary Writing Prize are Dr Nicholas Cullinan and Dr Anna Lovatt, assisted by Christopher Griffin, Ridinghouse Contributing Editor at The Burlington Magazine.
Submission requirements:
· Applicants must submit one unpublished review of a contemporary art exhibition of no more than 1000 words in length.
· All submissions must be written in English (although the art considered may be international).

Digital Cultural Mapping: Transformative Scholarship and Teaching in the Geospatial Humanities. The Harry Ransom Center, an internationally renowned humanities research library and museum at The University of Texas at Austin, annually awards over 50 fellowships to support research projects that require substantial on-site use of its collections. The fellowships support research in all areas of the humanities, including literature, photography, film, art, the performing arts, music, and cultural history.
The fellowships range from one to three months, with stipends of $3,000 per month. Also available are $1,200 to $1,700 travel stipends and dissertation fellowships with a $1,500 stipend. Complete applications for the 2012-2013 fellowships must be received by February 1, 2012.

Atlantic Center for the Arts (New Smyrna Beach FL) Since 1982, Atlantic Center's residency program has provided artists from all artistic disciplines with spaces to live, work, and collaborate during three-week residencies. Located just four miles from the east coast beaches of central Florida, the pine and palmetto wooded environment contains six award-winning studios that include a resource library, painting studio, sculpture studio, music studio, dance studio, black box theater, writer's studio, and digital computer lab. The Fine Arts Work Center offers a unique residency for writers and visual artists in the crucial early stages of their careers. Located in Provincetown, Massachusetts, an area with a long history as an arts colony, the Work Center provides seven-month Fellowships to twenty Fellows each year in the form of living/work space and a modest monthly stipend. Residencies run from October 1 through May 1. Fellows have the opportunity to pursue their work independently in a diverse and supportive community of peers. A historic fishing port, Provincetown is situated at the tip of Cape Cod in an area of spectacular natural beauty, surrounded by miles of dunes and National Seashore beaches.
Eligibility
The Fellowship is open to all emerging visual artists creating two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and time-based media work. Applicants are judged on the quality of their work and not on previous exhibition experience, resumes, recommendations or the like. The jury disqualifies applicants it deems to be already emerged—e.g., those who have had high-profile solo exhibitions, or have been in significant group exhibitions such as biennials.
Collaborative teams may apply under one application. If selected they will only be awarded one Fellowship. Please note that visual arts Fellows are provided with furnished living accommodations with one full-sized bed.

The FINE ARTS WORK CENTER in Provincetown offers a unique residency program for emerging artists and writers. Located in a rustic fishing village with a storied history as an arts colony, the Work Center provides seven-month Fellowships to twenty Fellows each year in the form of living/work space and a modest monthly stipend of $750. Residencies run from October 1 through April 30. Fellows pursue their work independently in a diverse and supportive community of peers. Additional facilities include a basic woodshop, a print shop with etching and lithography press and a computer lab featuring a video editing suite and large format digital printer. Writing Fellows are housed in two- to three-room apartments. Some working studios and living spaces are handicap accessible.

WINDGATE FOUNDATION VISITING ARTIST FELLOWSHIPS FOR ESTABLISHED ARTISTS UrbanGlass
(Brooklyn NY) UrbanGlass offers two Visiting Established Artist Fellowships to artists wishing to work in glass. Fellowships are for an eight week period and include access to all areas of the interim Studio on a scheduled basis, technical support and materials as stipulated in the Fellowship Agreement. Due our current location in an interim studio, the 2012 fellowship will be available for flameworking, fusing and/or kiln casting techniques. Dates of fellowship and budget will be discussed with the artist. The Fellowship does not include room and board; however, each Visiting Artist receives an honorarium of $1,500 for his/her discretionary use. The Established Artist Fellowship is designed to provide mid-career artists with an opportunity to to develop a new body of work and explore new techniques. Artists will be chosen on the basis of past work and plans for utilizing UrbanGlass facilities. The Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (est. 1870) is an international residency program that aims to develop top talent in the visual arts. 2012 Artists in Residence Program at I-Park Deadline Type: fixed Deadline: 1/30/2012 Call Type: Residencies, Workshops, Exchanges Eligibility: National International Application Deadline: January 30, 2012 The I-Park Foundation, Inc., a 450-acre natural woodland retreat in East Haddam, CT (U.S), announces its twelfth season hosting its multi-disciplinary residency program. Self-directed artists’ residencies will be offered from May through November 2012, with off-season sessions in April and December. Most residencies are four weeks in duration. Residencies are offered to creative individuals working in the following disciplines: Visual (including Environmental) Art, Music Composition/Sound Sculpture/Design, Moving Image, Creative Writing and Landscape/Garden Design. Work samples are evaluated through a competitive, juried process. A $30 application fee helps defray the cost of the independent jury panels. Accepted artists are responsible for their own work materials as well as transportation to and from the area. The program is otherwise offered at no cost to accepted artists, including a basic meal program where most of, though not all, the food is provided. Accommodations at I-Park include comfortable private living quarters in an 1850’s era farmhouse and a private studio space. An abundance of tools, equipment, musical instruments and peripherals, site materials, an electric kiln, wireless internet and library facilities are provided. International applicants are welcome. The Gloria Singletary Gallery at the Living Arts and Science Center invites a variety of artist proposals for 4-8 week exhibitions. Independent curators, collaborative teams of artists, and individual artists are encouraged to submit proposals for exhibition.
The gallery at LASC is dedicated to providing exhibitions that are engaging and interactive so that we may involve the viewer in unique ways. A relationship with the art that is tactile or participatory allows gallery visitors to become further engaged and responsive toward the exhibited art work. This can be through direct or indirect relationship with the exhibited art work. The gallery director will collaborate with each chosen exhibitor in order to develop and execute ideas that provide new and exciting methods for hands-on learning during the exhibition. Please look at past exhibitions to see the types of things we have presented to our gallery visitors. Proposals that incorporate an interactive and participatory relationship with the art work are encouraged.
The LASC is also interested in offering innovative emerging and established artists an opportunity to continue developing their creative potential and investigations while affording valuable exposure. As a non-profit organization, we seek to provide a diverse context for area art production by supporting artist's projects and collaborations also associated with other regional non-profit organizations. Our goal is to increase awareness and appreciation of the visual fine arts and to promote critical contemplation and discourse within the local community and beyond. Artwork directly involving the local community or addressing regional subject matter is greatly considered.
