Call for Entries – Temporary Cinema
Deadline Type: fixed
Deadline: 7/20/2012
Call Type: Auditions
Eligibility: Chicago
Suburbs
Illinois
National
International
The Directors of 22 are proud to announce our first annual short film festival – Temporary Cinema: Films in 10 minutes or less.
22 is a new multi-use creative space on in Berwyn, just west of downtown Chicago. The goal of 22 is twofold: to showcase the work of emerging and established artists and designers from within the Chicago area, and to bring innovative and informative work to our community from the rest of the world. To reach these goals, 22 functions as a design studio during the day and as a flexible art space the rest of the time. This flexibility allows 22 to serve as a venue for gallery exhibitions, markets, installations, performances, lectures, and so on.
Temporary Cinema is an opportunity for emerging and established film makers to showcase their work. We’re looking for film and video work in any genre – documentary, narrative, animation, experimental, abstract, and so on, as long as the length of the finished film is not more than ten minutes. Our projection system supports HD video and 5.1 audio. Even though 22 is located in the Chicago/Berwyn area, we’re interested in showing work from all across the country and beyond.
We’re accepting submissions up to Friday, July 20. In order to submit, we’d like to view your film in as close to finished form as possible. We accept submissions as a Quicktime file, or you can also send us a link to a Vimeo page, YouTube, or your own website.
After July 20, we will go through the submissions and select enough to fill approximately a two-hour block. Then we will notify the selected filmmakers, and we’ll need finished films from those filmmakers in a format (data DVD or Quicktime via Dropbox) that we can project in the gallery on the night of the film festival, Saturday, August 18. We will need those final films by August 8 in order to have enough time to compile them into a single night of programming.
While we are accepting work from everywhere, we urge all Chicago area filmmakers to attend the event on August 18. We’d like to have a Q&A session with local filmmakers during the festival. The festival will also feature a peoples’ choice award, in which the audience will vote for their favorite film, and a gallery award. The winners will receive a small prize, as yet to be determined….
Submission requirements:
Filmmaker name(s) and contact information (e-mail, phone number)
CV
A link to your film online
3 – 5 jpeg screenshots from the film
E-mail submissions and/or questions to 22filmfestival@gmail.com
Timeline:
July 20 – submissions are due before 5pm
July 30 – filmmakers will be notified
August 8 – final films must be at 22 by the end of the day
August 18 – Temporary Cinema begins at 6 pm.
*Submitting work does not guarantee you a spot in the show.

“Chiyoda Arts Festival” is open submission art event which has taken 3331 Arts Chiyoda as its stage since 2010. In its first year this program was realized under the title of “3331 Independents” in an open exhibition without selection panel. In its second year the event further widened its scope to include not only exhibition, but also a stage program, in which performance of all genres was presented, along with a market program in which artists and creatives could directly sell their art goods, further extending the reach of 3331’s appeal. Deadline: 07/15/12
Flux Factory is a not-for-profit organization that has been organizing collaborative projects and supporting experimental programming for 18 years. Our residency program, now in its third year, is extremely competitive and has hosted over 100 artists and cultural producers from around the world.
We are looking for an artist, curator, or cultural producer of any kind, who will also be an active community member, and a friend who enjoys being part of a exciting and active social milieu.
Residency periods are 3 / 6 / 9 / 12 months, and each artist must find their own funding for their residency, though Flux Factory can certainly help with this process. The cost for this residency would be approximately $950 / month.
Applications will be considered as they arrive until July 15, 2012.
Please visit http://www.fluxfactory.org/ news/residencyapply/ for further application information or write residency@fluxfactory.org with questions.
