Nothings better after staying up all night on a full moon with good company then walking around in a crowd of people buying fresh fruit and vegetables.

KCAI Continuing Education: Cartooning and Storytelling

This past week I taught Cartooning and Storytelling to five awesome 8 year olds.  The class was the third I've taught ever and the second Cartooning class.  Things went really good this past week and we had a lot of fun. Hopefully they went away with more knowledge of how to draw there own comics.  The work you see here reflects an assignment where the kids where to tell the scariest real life story in the hopes of scaring me through there telling of it.  Then I collected them into a book and handed out a copy to each student. Which is what you see here!

Gallery Food: La Esquina

The food section at La Esquina's July 4th opening cemented the fact that The Urban Culture Project is a front runner in quality food at gallery openings.  With meat on the grill, and a keg of boulevard (which is always at there openings!,) they never fail to disappoint.

I went with the guacamole and chips, followed by cantelope, strawberries and Brownie bites( gotta love costco.)  The grill had just fired up when I arrived so for my second plate I went for a polish sausage, with ketchup and this time drank about half of the italian soda they had mixed in with all the diet cokes( we've gotta keep thin and get sugar!)

Heres to hoping that all Gallery Openings in Kansas City can be as delicious as this one.

Miles Neidinger and Justin Farkas at La Esquina

I love all these car fenders. I can only hope that they where found from street corners around Kansas city, but sadly thats probably not true.

I like this piece a lot as well. Its a little more sparse then I usually see Justin working.

Failed Asparagus

My first attempt at grilling Asparagus went bad the other day as  it all sadly burnt. My second attempt though was much more successful. Though I didn't photograph it.
