Scripts and Systems - call for entries

Type: Exhibition Opportunities [View all]
Posted by: Lexington Art League
Deadline: 04/13/12

May 25 – July 15, 2012

Many of our daily and most menial tasks have been reduced to orderly algorithms - a discrete set of steps, rules, or calculations followed in specific order to accomplish a task. With improving technology, we are personally responsible for fewer of these steps.

Scripts and Systems is an exhibition about these plans and plots. It is about letting go of control - even in our creative lives. It is about the relationship between people and our machines, about whom we give instruction to and whom we take it from. It is about all of the scripts we follow.

Artists interested in submitting work for consideration are encouraged to creatively interpret the theme. Works in all media are eligible.

For full prospectus, please visit http://www.lexingtonartleague.org/calltoartist.htm and look under "Scripts and Systems."

Call For Applicatication, Ecoismi 2012 - Cassano d'Adda, Milan, Italy

Type: Exhibition Opportunities [View all]
Posted by: City of Cassano d'Adda
Deadline: 04/12/12

The City of Cassano d'Adda, Milan - Italy, presents Ecoismi2012, a contemporary art event which takes place in the Natural Park of the Island Borromeo. The common thread of Ecoismi 2012 is between man and nature. The review involves the construction of No. 12 (twelve) site-specific works in complete harmony with the area of the park.

ECOISMI 2012's leitmotiv is the binomial man and nature. The exhibition schedules the realization of twelve (n° 12) artistic works in full harmony with the identity of the Natural Park area. ECOISMI 2012 wants to be a meeting point between contemporary culture and the deep roots of territory. The art works realized have to be able to create a natural and osmotic relationship between art, the environmental and cultural context, and the identity of local site and will have an aesthetic and cognitive value, regarding processes and changes that concern the environment and the present human condition. See www.ecoismi.org for more details.
