Lester Goldman "A Life's Work"

In 1982, Lester's solo exhibition at the Charlotte Crosby Kemper Gallery signaled a huge transition."...(Realism) wasn't answering all the questions I had, and it wasn't drawing as much on the ideas and concepts I wanted to deal with. It wasn't giving me the freedom to move around in the way I wanted to.  I did begin to change my visual language quite a bit in order to question the things that I could do through representation: embracing modes of abstraction or working away from nature or not using naturalistic source material as a way of defining form and learning to rely on my own form mechanics and invent space and symbols and everything else." It's a wonderful opportunity to walk into a room that houses the life's work's and investigations of one man. The Open House of Lester Goldman's paintings, sculptures and drawings held downtown on Saturday was a unique experience.  

Hopefully the cataloging, preserving, and selling of Lester Goldman's work cements his legacy in Kansas City and will re-introduce his work to the country and art world.

Missed Connections

Reading Reverse Cowgirl I came accross this link to a comic now in production based off of Craiglist's Missed Connections. I've been thinking about doing a video project about missed connections, though I'm not sure what direction I want it to take.

Starp-on Ball sack video

Cleaning out my computer I found this video of my friend Clayton testing out one of my Stap-on Ballsacks. I've recently begun making some more specific ballsacks and plan to shoot some more contextual photos then before.

I've been scanning family photos while in Virginia and these are my favorite of my grandfather.

Johnny and LIzzy

Johnny and Lizzy dated for 4 years.
I can’t recall the circumstances of there break-up.
Nor much of their relationship.
Lizzy past away after traveling cross-country with our friend Aaron.
She went to sleep and never woke up.
Aaron told me She had finally found herself and was happy.

Two years later I ran into Johnny
and he showed me his tattoo in memory of her.

New video piece I just finished. The sound in the background is a recording my father did in the 1970's at Rockingham Speedway, put together with sounds of me making car sounds like I used to as a kid, and topped with BACH BACH!
